Teaching jobs in government schools, colleges and universities are in huge demand these days owing to the good salaries, job security, job satisfaction etc. Every year lakhs of candidates appear for various government teaching exams with an aim to get recruited as a teacher or professor in a reputed government school or college.
There are two types of exams conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for government teaching jobs in India:
•National Eligibility Test (NET)/State Eligibility Test (SET)
•Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)
NET is an exam conducted at national level to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and/or the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Candidates qualifying the NET exam get eligible to apply for a government job in Indian universities and colleges as Assistant Professors. The candidates qualifying NET exam for JRF get eligible to pursue research in their chosen subject in Indian universities and colleges.

The State Eligibility Tests (SETs) are similar to NETs, the only difference being these exams are conducted at state level. This means that candidates qualifying the SET exam get eligible to apply for the post of Assistant Professor or pursue research in the colleges and universities of a particular Indian state.
Note: While a majority of SETs are conducted for recruitment of Assistant Professors, Kerala SET is conducted for recruitment of school teachers.

Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is conducted at national or state level to determine the eligibility of candidates for the post of teacher in central or state schools from Classes 1-8. Some tests also determine the eligibility of candidates for Classes 9-12. Some of the popular TETs in India include:

Candidates from any Graduate in any discipline with B.Ed degree from recognized university/institute/college may apply to PGT exam. Minimum age limit to appear in this exam is 21 years and there is no upper age limit for this exam. But it may be vary state wise.
You have to passed 2 year Post Graduate course from Regional NCERT College of Education in relevant subject with minimum 50% marks/ B.Ed or equivalent qualification/ Proficiency in Teaching in Hindi & English Languages.
TGT stands for Trained Graduate Teacher. It is not a course. It is a title given to a graduate who has completed training in teaching. So, TGT is a graduate who is trained in teaching. If you are a graduate and completed B.Ed then you are already a TGT and you don't need any teacher training to become a TGT.
TGT teachers are qualified to teach the students under class 10, including class 10 students. A graduate in any field of study is eligible for TGT entrance exam.

Bachelor of Education or B.Ed. is a 2-year undergraduate teaching program that is needed to become a teacher at pre-nursery, nursery, primary, secondary and senior secondary schools. For B.Ed. Admission 2021, students have to score an aggregate of 50-55% in graduation from a recognized university and qualify the required entrance exam.
There are a number of entrance tests for B.Ed. Admission such as IPU CET, BHU UET, DU B.Ed., and others.

B.Ed. and BTC are courses that focus on teaching professions. The only difference between these courses is that the BTC course is more into primary teaching.
